Not A Love Story

‘Not a Love Story’ is a powerful independent film that chronicles the lives of Alec and Chenoa, childhood sweethearts whose paths are forever altered by a traumatic event. At just twelve years old, a confrontation involving Alec’s uncle leads to Chenoa’s sudden abduction, setting off a bitter feud between their families. A decade later, Alec returns to his hometown and reunites with Chenoa, now a single mother working at a strip club. As they navigate past wounds, unresolved emotions, and the burden of their shared history, a violent act by a jealous Freddy sends their lives spiraling once again, pushing them to the brink of tragedy.

The film seamlessly weaves themes of love, loss, trauma, and redemption, while also addressing deeper issues such as racism, misogyny, and grief. Writer-director Brian Lutes crafts a richly textured narrative with an emotional core, supported by strong performances and immersive storytelling. With its period setting, dynamic visuals, and multi-layered character arcs, ‘Not a Love Story’ delivers a gripping and unforgettable experience that resonates long after the credits roll.
